Hi,
Would like a workflow engine. Where we can create campaigns with Appointments, Todo’s, Calls, etc. Be nice to include emails for automated sending.

Yes, we have plans for building the workflow engine in an upcoming release. You can see our development roadmap here: http://zurmo.org/roadmap

Hi,
Thank you for the quick update. Would this include the ability to have Letter/Email Templates with mail merging?

The first phase of the workflow engine will allow users to trigger actions based on certain criteria such as time elapse and upon saving a record. For example, a sales manager might want to auto create a Task to follow up with a sales user for each time they close lose an opportunity (upon saving a record trigger). That automated task would remind the manager to inquire to the salesperson as to why they lost the deal. You could also have triggered emails go out if a user does not complete a task by the due date (time elapse trigger).

We will continue to enhance the workflow engine and may include the items you mentioned (letter/email templates with mail merging).

hi thanks,
would you have letter/email template merge in the system? doesn't have to be included in workflow engine.

We do not have letter/email template merge capabilities in the system now and our roadmap is filled for the next 6 months. We can potentially add it as a feature request for Q2 2013. If we receive more demand, we could have it available earlier. Here is the roadmap so far: http://zurmo.org/roadmap

Hi,

i want to ask if you are going to implement your own workflow engine or use an open source alternative.
If you implement your own, is this going to be generic, so it can be used and in other projects or it will be zurmo specific.

Thanks

Good question. We will be building our own workflow engine that will work specifically for Zurmo. It will be part of the open source version, but you will not be able to use it external to Zurmo. It will be available in the 1.5 release: http://zurmo.org/roadmap

Would the workflow engine also allow you to keep one ore more colleagues up to date on a contact/lead/opportunity? If you're both working on a lead it would be nice if I changed something my colleague would get a notifcation about it.

Yes, you will be able to trigger automation based on 2 criteria:

1. time elapse
2. upon saving of a record

In your example, if a person changes a record and you want an alert "upon saving" of the modified record, you can set it up that way. Same thing could happen if you want your colleague to receive an alert when you modify/update/change information in the record.

You might get a lot of alerts depending on how many records you are all working with...

Hi,

I'm trying to trigger these workflows :

1. When new lead created then send emails to some groups/user

2. When on existing lead, there is new note then send emails to some groups/user

3. When existing account is getting updated, then send emails to some groups/user

I already tried to google and search the forum about this, but I found nothing. I also tried to do it by myself, but I get confused when configuring.

Can please you provide the exact parameter for those 3 workflows? I'm sure this post would be helpful to other persons also.

You can accomplish all the workflow scenarios you listed. We will have more user documentation on how to set up workflows in the future. For now, you can review this blog: http://zurmo.org/fea...-engine-preview. We also provide support and training for the Zurmo commercial versions: http://www.zurmo.com/pricing

This post "http://zurmo.org/fea...-engine-preview" doesn't help a lot.

When will documentation be released? It is too bad that you have excellent feature but the users still don't know how to use it.

Answering this post would help a lot :)

Come join our Dev Session today (in 1.5hr) and we can walk through how to create a Workflow rule. We have Developer Sessions every Tuesday at 10:00AM Chicago Time (http://zurmo.org/for...arning-session/).
