Hello Zurmo Team!

Since I am from Germany, we would like to archive some eMails with special characters such as ä, ö and ü. You can, however, see in the attached pictures what happens when we do so.

Best regards,

  ~knucKles

And even worse:

Some eMails are just cut off when a special character appears.

In the attached picture you can see an eMail that ends in the middle of the second sentence after the occurrence of an umlaut.

I can confirm that this is happening for us too. When an email is initially archived the whole message is displayed, but after a while the message will be cut off starting at the first special character. This is a local install of the version 2.2.3.

An acknowledgement from the devs would be nice.

I have also confirmed this issue exists on my installation.

I confirm this bug too , it's not possible to archive any italian mail because of accents like òàèùì and also basica punctuation cause a truncated archived mail.

Any workaround ?

I also note another problem when i forward a message the submissiontime of the note should be extracted from the header so if i receive an email @ 12:00 am, and i forward @ 18:00 should be inserted with 12:00 as created time

Hello, I have also been experiencing that problem, when the email is picked up by the email archiving job and saved the presence of a special character will cut off the message in version 2.5.3. The message is recorded to the contact or lead but the body is cut off once a special character is used as knucKles explained. Please let us know when this bug can be fixed as it renders the whole email archiving feature useless.

I'm experiencing the same problem in 2.7.3. In my opinion this is a real show-stopper cause it makes email archiving useless.

We have set the charset of all database-tables and attributes to utf8_unicode_ci.

Has anyone found a solution for this?

Oh, sorry. I haven't noticed that you've released 2.8.0 yesterday :-) Congratulations!!! I'll wait for the update script and test then.

Hi Sérgio. I've updated to 2.8.0. The bug has NOT been fixed. It would be great if you could have a look at it! My programmer tried to fix it but unfortunately didn't find a solution.

Hi,

We use Zurmo 2.8.0 and we have the same problems with german special characters in archived emails.

Any fix?

Right: Viele Grüße

In Zurmo: Viele Gr=C3=BC=C3=9Fe,=20

Update: Only forwarding works fine with special characters. BCC don't work!

@Dorian In what part of the email is the problem happening? The subject/content/to field, cc field / bcc field  / attachments ?

Hi all,

New comer here, and I'd like to say, Zurmo CRM is one of my favourite now.

I have the Version 2.8.0 installed and I experienced the same problems. The message was archived properly except the special characters (in my case, the euro sign €) were not displaying properly, but just today I saw the message truncated and email is now lost. Verified the data in the database, everything follows the euro sign is replaced with spaces.

This is a bug resulting in data lost.

@speixoto - It happens in the content of the email. When can we expect this issue to be solved? It renders the Bcc: functionality useless.

Here's what I've noticed: This described problem doesn't occur if emails are sent to Zurmo in html-format (make sure you use UTF8 - otherwise you'll run into other problems). It happens only if you send emails to your dropbox in text-only-format.
