Zurmo sending to unsubscribed list members?

We received a complaint from a couple customers that they continue to receive notifications from our company even though they've unsubscribed from the list.
I confirmed this by clicking on the "Managed Subscriptions" link in the marketing email they forwarded me with their complaint.
After checking the list of 673 members, 647 are subscribed and 26 are unsubscribed.
Sure enough, the statistics for the campaign (currently) show the following:
574 sent
53 opened
6 clicked
6 unsubscribed
3 bounced
The statistics raise these questions in my mind:
1) What does "sent" mean?  Is that the total number of messages sent or just the number of messages sent that aren't counted in another status?  (Shouldn't this equal 647?)
2) The numbers don't seem to indicate that messages were sent to recipients numbering less than the 647 subscribed members.  Why then would my customer complain that they've been receiving messages after unsubscribing?

After some more research, we found that leads and contacts that received the marketing email that weren't on the list in the first place.
