Hi, everyone!

I have a doubt regarding the step about Putty. This is the text:

"Install putty, and all other binaries like pageand.exe, plink.exe.
  • There is a package that contains the required files:http://www.chiark.gr...y/download.html
  • Start PuttyGen (from Start/Applications/Putty menu)
  • Generate ssh2-rsa key
  • When key is generated, add your email address
  • (this is email address that you used for bitbucket account)"

It says we should add our email account when generating the key, but I cannot seem to find a field that says "Email" or so. I need to clear that english is not my first language so maybe I'm missing something.

If someone can help me with this would be great.

Also, as a second note: Is this Putty step completely necesary?

Thanks in advance!

Pablo

Hi Pablo,

I'm going to update the installation wiki as this point is not very clear, thanks for asking the question and pointing this out.

On the key generator screen, your email address, the one you used to register with BitBucket goes in the Key Comment Field.

This is an important step because it allows communication with the BitBucket server without having to enter your login credentials.

Hope this information helps you.

Regards
Justin

Justin.
Thank you very much for the answer, it was def helpful. Now I'm reading the Wiki again and I see you updated it. I want to ensure I'm doing all right, so this time I wanted to ask you about this point:

4.5 - In the key comment field, (this is important step, because it will allow us
to communicate with bitbucket server without having to log in)

It seems to me there is maybe some text missing, "In the key comment field" looks like the beggining or the end of a larger sentence. Maybe it is something accidentally left from before updating. If you can clear this out would be cool.
Again, thanks in advance.
Saludos.
Pablo

Hola Pablo! Thanks for pointing that out, there was nothing missing, it was just a formatting problem.

Gracias y saludos
Justin
