#12531 drag and drop contacts for import?

Posted by ericlevin on 14 January 2014 - 02:19 PM

I am trying to get my users on board with using Zurmo and one of the challenges I have had is with users importing their contacts. They are not great at doing this.

I was thinking about asking for a "drag and drop" function to take a contact from Outlook (or a vcard that was attached to an email) and making that a way for users to import their contacts.

Think your users would do this? Think it lead to better adoption at your organization?

I would very much like the ability to link accounts together and/or create a parent / child relationship between accounts.

#10744 Importing: Date Format Flexibility

Posted by ericlevin on 04 September 2013 - 09:18 PM

I was trying to import a number of meetings from a spreadsheet and kept getting caught up on the starting time (required field) format.

2 basic enhancement requests:

1. don't require 2-digit month and day or 4-digit year.  Example: permit 4/2/13.  Don't require 04/02/2013.  Assume anything > 90 for the year is 1990+ and anything less than 90 is 20xx.  It's "good enough" for 75 years! :)

2. Permit Date without time.  In most cases date is most relevant and time is less relevant.  Support both but if a user tries to import 4/2/2013, assume 04/02/2013 at 12:00:00 AM (if you need to store a time value).

#10696 Import Meetings, Description Field does not populate

Posted by ericlevin on 04 September 2013 - 03:05 AM

Zurmo Community Edition 2.0.22

I imported a handful of meetings and, while the contact, start time, name, owner, etc. all imported fine, the text I had in the "description" field does not show up in the UI.  No errors reported during time of import.

Anyone else see this?

#10686 Importing: Support permissions as a column

Posted by ericlevin on 03 September 2013 - 09:49 PM

The import wizard prompts to select the groups who can read records during the workflow.  I would much rather this be assignable per record being imported.  For example, if I had a CSV of Contacts that looked as follows:

| First Name | Last Name | Email Address | Account | Group with Permissions |

| Eric | Levin | blah@blah.com | Account1 | Group 1|

| Steve | Smith | steve@smith.com | Account2 | Group 2|

This would be much more efficient.

Further, if importing a contact you should have the option to inherit the permissions of the account the contact is (being) associated with.
