Currency Exchange Rates

Companies today have a farther reach for selling their products and services into countries other than their home country. A lot of these sales are carried out in each country’s local currency, and to keep up to date, client relationship management systems have to be able to manage exchange rates in a multicurrency world.

Zurmo has incorporated an exchange rate system where many different currencies can be added and used for converting to and from USD (United States Dollars).  When a currency is first added, its exchange rate is updated. Then, when the currency is used again in an operation, the system checks when the last update was performed. If the currency update is more than 24 hours ago, the system will automatically perform an update as needed. In the very near future, functionality will be added to auto update all the currencies every night.

Zurmo uses the currency exchange rate service provided by http://currencies.apps.grandtrunk.net,  which is based on information provided by the ECB (European Central Bank). By using an online service, the Zurmo application is able to automatically update the exchange rates for the currencies that have been added. The currencies can then be used throughout the application for any sale that require them.

How do you change it so only a specific currency is shown globally, even in reports.

An admin can add available currencies in the system and every user can set their default currency (Profile->edit). Are you talking about having a default currency for all users? Let me know what you are trying to accomplish so we can help you configure everything properly. Also, were you referring to the dashboard charts when you mentioned reports (Opportunities by Lead Source, Opportunities by Sales Stage)?

        Hello Ray

How can I set GBP as the default currency?

I’ve been looking around on the forum and can’t find any indications on how to do this also I’d like to set a default timezone.

        Kind regards

        Ross

Each user can set their default currency. Go into My Profile-> edit-> Currency.

What currency do you want to add? When logged in as an Admin look under Settings–> Currency Configuration. You can add any currency and then each individual user and select from the list of currencies that have been added.

      hello,

I need XAF, which is Franc CFA, used in central africa.

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_African_CFA_franc

On admin, i cannot add any currency, only the ones which are predetermined, from an external currency web site.

      • Ray Stoeckicht

I see. That currency is not included in our list. The currencies are pulled from a currency service. If they do not have it, then our options are limited.

I have the same issue. XAF and XOF are tied to the euro on a fixed rate. I suppose that’s why they are not on the list.

          1€ = 655,957 XOF

Is there a way to add them directly in the database?
